SO COMMON, SO RARE : Roseate Spoonbill

The roseate spoonbill is found in the mangroves of South Florida, coastal Texas and southwestern Louisiana.

These stunning birds earned their name due to their beautiful light-pink pelage and distinctive bill – their spoon-shaped mouth helps them scoop up insects, molluscs and plants from mangroves, scientists in fact ascribing their shading to a diet of crustaceans.
