ਉੱਤਰ—(i) ਪਹਿਲੇ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼-ਸਿੱਖ ਯੁੱਧ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਹਾਰ ਦਾ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਮੁੱਖ ਕਾਰਨ ਲਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਅਤੇ ਤੇਜਾ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੀ ਗੱਦਾਰੀ ਸੀ।
(ii) ਸਿੱਖ ਫ਼ੌਜ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਯੂਰਪੀਅਨ ਅਫ਼ਸਰ ਭਰਤੀ ਕੀਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਸਨ। ਉਹ ਸਿੱਖ ਰਾਜ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਭੇਦ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਸਨ।
(iii) ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ ਉਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡੀ ਸਾਮਰਾਜਵਾਦੀ ਤਾਕਤ ਨਾਲ ਸੰਬੰਧ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਸਨ।
(iv) ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਧਨ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੁਕਾਬਲੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾ ਸਨ।
(v) ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ਾਂ ਦੇ ਸੈਨਾਪਤੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਲੜਾਈਆਂ ਦਾ ਬੜਾ ਤਜਰਬਾ ਸੀ।

Answer: (i) The main reason for the defeat of the Sikhs in the First Anglo-Sikh War was the betrayal of Lal Singh and Teja Singh.
(ii) European officers who were recruited into the Sikh army, gave all the secrets of the Sikh Empire to the British.
(iii) At that time the British were the biggest imperialist power in the world.
(iv) The resources of the British were much greater than those of the Sikhs.
(v) The British generals had vast experience of wars.
