DEVOTION AND PRIDE CAN’T GO ALONG.
A village priest considered himself a great devotee of God. He was proud of his devotion. Once the village was flooded and people started leaving from there.
People asked the priests trapped in the flood to come with them.
The priest said – You people go, I have faith in God and HE will come to save me.
Water came to the waist. Then a jeep arrived. The jeep people asked the priest to follow along, he said again – God will come to save me.
Now the water had reached the shoulders. A boat came to the priest and the people offered help. The priest then repeated the same thing.
After a while a helicopter arrived and the rescuer asked the priest to accompany him.
The priest then said the same – God will come to save me.
The priest eventually drowned and died and reached God.
He said crying out to God – I was such a great devotee of yours, yet you did not come to help me.
God said – I tried to save you three times. Sent the jeep first, then the boat and then the helicopter. But you did not want to escape by yourself.
We should remember that in this Kali-yuga God comes to help us many times, but we refuse that help due to our ignorance.
God has also given us wisdom and decision taking capability, which should be used while taking decisions in life.
Learning – Due to pride, many times the person does not pay attention to the help or solution present.
