Baltimore Oriole, a song bird

Animals and birds often become linked to places and persons in human memory. Consider the Baltimore, Oriole, a seven-inch songbird found in the woodlands and riversides of America’s Great Plains – its rich bird was named after a military figure though – its burnished orange and brown colours brought to mind the coat of arms of Lord Baltimore in the 17th century.
