Monarch of the Sea

Killer whales are titled ‘monarch of the seas’ – found from the Arctic to Antarctic, the 50-toothed orca grows over 30 feet and weighs 4,500 kgs. Dashingly black and white in colouring, it lives in pods of about 50 which communicate intensely and hunt together. Interestingly, despite their fearsome reputation, killer whales usually feed on fish and seals – they aren’t known to attack human beings.
